IU Health and fitness employees manage protest towards COVID-19 vaccine prerequisite

INDIANAPOLIS — Some IU Health workers don’t want to get the COVID-19 vaccine. They are organizing a protest Saturday from the prerequisite from their employer.

IU Health and fitness is requiring all staff to be completely vaccinated against COVID-19 by September 1 or reduce their job.

“You get the vaccine or you eliminate your means to present for your family. You drop your wellbeing treatment. That’s not a decision. That is a threat. And that’s backing us into a corner,” mentioned IU Health and fitness worker Traci Staley. “And lots of will not want to have to make that decision, but are at the stage that they are keen to stand up for health-related freedom.”

Staff can apply for an exemption for healthcare and religious motives. Staley has obtained past exemptions for the flu shot.

An online petition against the mandate has collected about 8,400 signatures since it launched a week in the past.

Some opponents of the vaccine mandate argue a vaccine with only unexpected emergency use authorization should not be expected for work. Both of those Pfizer and Moderna have started the process to get their vaccines completely authorised by the Food and drug administration.
